GAY & LESBIAN GROUPS PLAN RALLY, MARCH AND VIGIL AS TRIAL FOR SLAIN TRANSGENDER WOMAN BEGINS

New York - The New York City Gay and Lesbian Anti-Violence Project (AVP), the Audre Lorde Project, Metropolitan Gender Network, Street Transgender Action Revolutionaries, New York Association for Gender Rights Advocacy, Metropolitan Community Church of New York and over 50 other organizations plan a series of activities in association with the start of the trial of three men accused of being involved in the killing of Amanda Milan in June 2000.

The events will begin with a rally in Sheridan Square Sunday evening, June 17th, followed by a march to the courthouse at 100 Centre Street, where jury selection in the trial will begin the following morning. Activists are also planning a vigil in Collect Pond Park, adjacent to the courthouse at the end of Sunday night's march.
